Adopt

When you choose to adopt, you’re a freaking hero! You are saving a life. You can literally find any breed through a rescue—there are so many great puppies, dogs, cats, kittens, bunnies—even horses—looking for homes for a variety of reasons, most through absolutely no fault of their own. Check out the great rescues on this page and give them a call if you have questions! Petfinder is also another great resource. If you are feeling overwhelmed and would like some help, please email woof@unleashjax.com for information about our matchmaking services.

Adopt, don’t shop! Buying puppies from pet stores and backyard breeders is never a good idea. ALL puppies that you see in the stores come from puppy mills (no matter what the store associate says). A good breeder wants to know where their puppies end up. Puppy mills are horrible, abusive places that you are supporting when you purchase from a store. The parents of that puppy spend their days suffering. If you haven’t physically seen where your puppy is coming from, don’t buy it!
