The NY Dog Film Festival™ is an annual celebration of the love between dogs and their people, through short films from around the world that inspire, educate and entertain, benefiting the Friends of Jacksonville Animals

[These films are free of physical or verbal abuse toward people or animals. The only tears you might shed would be tears of joy for happy endings. The programs are designed for adult audiences but can be enjoyed by all members of the family, including mature children.]

Unexpected (2 min) An animated tale with an unexpected ending.

Shit Happens (2 min) A mime demonstrates what happens when you don’t “Pick it Up”

Esther – Saving Castaways (6 min) A documentary chronicling a prison program for unwanted dogs trained by inmates: an unlikely union that changes both man and dog.

Elvis: The Lonely Hunter of Circle Beach (5 min) A remote Long Island beach. A tough little dog named Elvis. His search for the elusive Buried Bagel.

Dog Power (25 min) A dynamic documentary following the glorious canine/human athletes competing together in international competitions for shared outdoor sports.

I Rescue Senior Dogs (5 min) – A documentary about Sherri Franklin, the founder of Muttville, a last-chance rescue for senior dogs in San Francisco.

About a Dog (16 min) A charming story about an antisocial book editor, who reluctantly fosters a dog, which brings her out of shell and introduces her to love.

It’s a Potcake Life (30 min) A heart-warming documentary following the indigenous stray dogs of the Bahamas – called Potcakes – and the happy endings facilitated by an island of dedicated
rescuers.

A Dog’s Life (8 min) – An animated interpretation of a dog’s view of an ordinary day in his life.

Well Groomed – (8 min) A colorfully-hued documentary peeking into the colorful, passionate world of competitive creative dog grooming.

Imperfect Adventure (5 min) A beautifully philosophical journal of one woman’s trip across North America in a motorcycle, with her dog in the sidecar, overcome her doubts and fears.

THE PET EFFECT (2 min) A priceless mock-advertisement.
Little Works of Art (13 min) a documentary about Harold "Cat Man" Sims and his self-styled American Museum of the House Cat in Sylva, NC, with over 10,000 cat-related objects.

Art’s Automotive (6 min) An animated tale of an orphaned kitten who bonds with an auto repair
robot in the future.

Akamatsu the Cat (10 min) A documentary about life with a paralyzed kitty, Akamatsu, who went on to live 4 vibrant years with the use of a wheelchair.

Pure Fluff (4 min) A documentary sketch of a professional cat groomer in New York City, who shows how to tackle this challenge.

Winter Break (5 min) The thoughts of a school teacher bored during winter break with only her cat for company.

Guardians of Recoleta (21 min) A documentary examining community cats living in the iconic Buenos Aires Recoleta cemetery, and what became of some kitties removed by well-meaning American rescuers.

Scaredy, the Cat (8 min) A heartwarming documentary about a very shy cat who was adopted at the tennis courts in NYC’s Riverside park but avoids everyone except for a few choice
people.

MARNIE: The Cat Guru (2 min) A philosophical tabby cat expounds on the meaning of life and happiness.

CAT NATION: A Film About Japan’s Crazy Cat Culture (26 min) A documentary about Japan’s extraordinary love of kitty cats.

INSTAGRAM CAT MOM (5 min) A mockumentary about the lengths people might go to for the purrfect photo to post online.

SAMANTHA AND THE ROCK CATS (11 min) A documentary that follows a woman who travels the country with her cat show.
Mittens from Kittens (4 min) A documentary about a woman was inspired by the nuisance of cat hair to discover other uses for it.

BETH IS NOT A CAT (3 min) A flight of fancy about Beth who is not a cat, but looks like one.

Arts in the Park – RESCHEDULED

15th Annual Arts in the Park rescheduled to Saturday, June 2nd from 10 am – 5 pm in Johansen Park with live music, over 60 art vendors and food with free face painting for the kids. Enjoy the breezy canopy tree covered Johansen Park.

Dogs and kids are welcome!

Goldenfest 2018

Come join the fun at the 15th annual GoldenFest, a fun-filled afternoon for you and your Golden Retriever. Enjoy contests, vendor booths, a silent auction and refreshments while your Goldens play at Dogwood Park. GoldenFest is one of G.R.E.A.T’s main fundraisers – funds raised in the auction go directly to the medical needs of rescued Goldens waiting for their forever homes.

Paw Prints in the Sand 5K (formerly known as Chariots of Fur)

Lace up your shoes, leash up your dog and join us for the 2018 Paw Prints in the sand Beach Run & Festival
The Paw Prints in the sand Beach Run & Festival is a unique event that participants can enjoy, with or without their dog, on the beautiful beach of Jacksonville Beach.
The Paw Prints in the sand event includes a 5K run/walk, 1-mile fun run/walk, and festival with sponsor & vendor booths, live music, food trucks, contests, dog demos, dogs available for adoption, activities for kids, massages, raffle prizes and a silent auction.
All 5K and 1-mile race registrants will receive a souvenir tech t-shirt and race packet filled with goodies for people and pups; the top 5K race finishers will be awarded hand-made ceramic dog bowls. Proceeds raised from the event will benefit nonprofit St. Francis Animal Hospital to provide medical care to family pets in need.
