Community Meditation

The Mindfulness Community of Atlantic Beach Florida was established in 2012. Long time Mindfulness Meditation Practitioners in the Thich Nhat Hanh Order of Interbeing, we, Yvette and Kinney, opened our home in Atlantic Beach Florida to neighbors and friends as safe space to breathe, sit, and walk together, once a month, as a mindfulness practice. The meditation community we call a Sangha, now meet at Pure Imagination Arts at 469-11 Atlantic Blvd. Atlantic Beach, Florida. We offer meditation twice a month, the second Sunday and last Sunday of each month. We are now three facilitators: Yvette, Kinney (Harold) and Elena.

Our intention is to create a community where we gather in the energy of loving-kindness that soothes us as we navigate in a world in distress. Our collective practice not only cares for our needs, but for those around us in our communities—both local and worldwide. We look forward to our bi-monthly meditation practice in the Thich Nhat Hanh tradition. The Practice Process: Our mindfulness practice runs for approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Mindfulness is the energy of being aware and awake to the present moment. We open with sitting meditation for 25 minutes. We stand/stretch in Noble Silence (not speaking) for 5 minutes. Next, we do a walking meditation for about 15 minutes (outdoors or indoors). We do a stretch bathroom break in Noble Silence for 5 minutes. We share a short Dharma reading, or offer a Dharma talk, aimed at ways to live mindfully with messages in affirming our basic goodness, practicing loving-kindness and promoting well-being. Lastly, we have a Dharma discussion for 25 minutes on ways we may practice mindfulness in our daily lives. This is an opportunity to reflect upon your own meditation practice as well as what you are learning about practicing mindful living. We conclude. Because this may be new for many people, we’ll give brief explanations along the way. For the more curious, we invite those questions and explorations with us after our practice time.

We meet on Sundays, from 4:00p.m. to 5:30p.m., twice a month. We usually meet on the second Sunday and last Sunday of each month. When there is an exception, we will promptly notify you.

We look forward to seeing you!

In loving-kindness,

Yvette, Kinney and Elena
