Hound Hike

Though our first Hound Hike will be virtual for the first year, the participation possibilities are endless! First, you will need to fill out our online sponsorship form to register as a participant and pay the $20 participation fee. From here, you can simply enlist your friends, colleagues, and family members to sponsor your pet and then get to hiking around your neighborhood!

Don’t have a hound to hike with? Our event is all-inclusive so cats walking on leashes, rabbits hopping around your yard, or even your hamsters running on their exercise wheels can participate to help raise much needed funds!

If you love animals but don’t currently have one yourself, don’t worry you can still help us save hundreds of lives by simply sponsoring one of our current dogs residing at the shelter during the Hound Hike week. Here at NHS, we have an amazing group of volunteers who come daily to walk our dogs, simply register and choose one of our dogs (photos can be seen on our website), and our dedicated group of volunteers will walk these dogs on your behalf, who knows your generosity could also result in finding a forever home for the shelter dog chosen as he or she may be spotted while on his/her walk to the park.

The Hound Hike will be scheduled between Tuesday, April 13 thru end of day Tuesday, April 20 to make sure that all those who want to get the opportunity to participate can do so.

The first 100 participants to register will receive a special edition superhero Funko board game, kindly donated by Funko! Individual contributions of over $100 will receive an NHS baseball hat or travel mug or receive both for individual contributions over $200! There will also be prizes for the most money raised, the most creative video and more!  So, make sure to take some fun videos and photos of you and your pet(s) on a walk, get creative with your campaign and share your videos and details on social media, and encourage others to donate to your fundraiser for the animals of NHS!

Strut Your Mutt

Stepping up for homeless pets: Strut Your Mutt in Jacksonville

Love animals? Interested in saving lives? Join Best Friends Animal Society and our partner rescue groups, shelters and animal welfare organizations for Strut Your Mutt in Jacksonville!

You can register to walk individually or join a team to fundraise for homeless dogs and cats in your community. Then on September 29 join fellow animal lovers to strut at Riverside Park. The event starts with a celebratory walk (dog not required) and includes a family friendly festival with food trucks, vendors and lots of fun activities.

Best Friends, along with our partner organizations are dedicated to helping raise funds for pets in the Jacksonville area. Last year, over 1,000 people raised more than $60,000 for lifesaving programs, such as spay and neuter services, adoption events and more.
